Andrew was first elected to local government office in 2003, at Derbyshire Dales District Council before being elected to Derbyshire County Council in 2005, where he became Leader of the County Council in 2009. He was awarded the MBE for his services to local government after Leading Derbyshire County Council from 2009 to 2013.  He was elected to the European Parliament representing the East Midlands in May 2014. Andrew, who was the Deputy Leader of the Local Government Association (LGA) for a time and Chairman of the Culture Toursim and Sport Board, is now a Vice President of the LGA.

Andrew is excited to represent the East Midlands in Europe, and to ensure your voice is heard there.  He is also playing to his particular strengths, local government and culture, by being elected as the ECR Groups Spokesman for Cult and Regi Committees.  His experience as a Derby University Governor also comes in useful in these roles.

The local constituency office is now open in Duffield, Derbyshire and we welcome visitors by appointment. The office is staffed part time so leave us a message if you cannot get anyone and someone will ring you back.

Andrew is keen to hear from his constituents in the East Midlands and to keep them informed about the work he does in the region, so please do click on the 'News' tab to keep up with stories about Andrew.
